Chevrolet insiders said “the wraps will come off at the Paris motor show in autumn 2012 and the car will take the fight to Ford’s new Fiesta SUV.”

The car will have similar styling to the GPX concept with the option of 4WD.

The SUV will offer new Ecotec turbo petrol engines plus a 1.6-litre diesel that complies with strict new Euro VI emissions regulations.

Mark Terry, boss of Chevrolet UK said: “We’re looking to add a Cruze estate [wagon] and Colorado pick-up to the UK range.”
