Last weekend, the Western Mail newspaper reported that the automotive component conglomerate was understood to be considering a further round of redundancies.

But managing director of the heat exchange Llanelli operation, David Pallas, this week told the newspaper that there were no plans to reduce its Llanelli workforce.

Pallas said, “I can categorically state that there are no plans for any further job losses at Llanelli.

“The automotive sector in the UK is tough but we are working extremely hard to win new orders.”

He added, “We did recently announce 87 job losses earlier and we are talking with unions to move the business forward.”

The company has 52 plants worldwide and a workforce of 80,000. Across the UK the company employs 1,600 people, with other plants at Sunderland, County Durham and Washington in the north of England, the Western Mail added.
