The contract for the 2.7-litre S-type diesel is highly significant for Remploy Automotive as it is the first time the company has won an original equipment order from Jaguar.
The contract involves the procurement and full supply chain management of fuel coolers for diesel-powered Jaguars. The work is carried out at Remploy Automotive’s Kitts Green factory in Birmingham and the assembled units are delivered to Jaguar’s giant Castle Bromwich plant.
Remploy already supplies Jaguar with timing chains through a contract with Tsubakimoto UK and provides a wide variety of Jaguar after-market kits to Unipart for shipping to dealers throughout the world.
Remploy Automotive is a division of Remploy Limited, Britain’s largest employer of disabled people. At Kitts Green almost all of the 140 employees have some form of disability.
Part of the work involves the use of dedicated Poka Yoke intelligent jigs, designed by Remploy Automotive.
Remploy Automotive also works for most of the biggest names in the automotive world, including Ford, MG Rover, Land Rover, BMW, Honda, JCB and key component suppliers such as ArvinMeritor, Harman and Hella.
