BMW’s Mini has announced production of the two seat coupe and roadsters at its Plant Oxford in England is “about to come to an end”.

The two variants are based on the second generation BMW Mini. The plant has been producing third generation, three door hatchbacks since November 2013 with the five door following on 1 July 2014. Second generation based Clubman and Clubvan output ended in August.

The Oxford plant still produces the second generation based four seat convertible models while a redesigned (third generation based) Clubman is expected this year though the assembly plant has not yet been named.

The former NedCar (Mitsubishi) factory in Born, the Netherlands also builds the latest Mini three-door hatchback under contract.

Magna Steyr in Austria assembles (second generation based) Countryman and Paceman variants.
