BMW’s i ‘electromobility’ brand has agreed a deal with Schneider Electric as manufacturer and recommended installer of a wallbox charger.
The supplier will collaborate with the automaker on home surveys, supply, installation and maintenance of the charging point but BMW will handle the customer contact, customising fittings to suit specific needs.

BMW claims its i3 is the first electric vehicle to be purpose-designed to work with a specially developed home charging unit from the start.
The wallbox can charge at up to 7.4kW from zero to 80% within three hours and fully charge within four hours.
UK taxpayers help fund a government 75% grant for the provision of such domestic charging points, enabling BMW to charge i3 owners just GBP315 for the installation.
BMW also claims to be first premium carmaker to deal directly with a charging point manufacturer and installer for home EV charging. The deal applies worldwide.
