BMW Group plans to increase the number of UK apprenticeships available through its company and dealership schemes to around 200 in 2012.
Earlier this month, Jaguar Land Rover announced that it wanted to recruit a record 133 apprentices; last year it recruited 114.

BMW’s intake is set to double this year to 70 places at the three Mini production sites across the UK as the plants prepare for the next model generation. In addition, both BMW and Mini dealers want to recruit around 130 young people.
The main Mini assembly plant in Oxford has 35 places available, with 11 at the Swindon pressings plant (once Pressed Steel) and a further 24 at the Hams Hall engine plant near Birmingham which supplies BMW and Mini plants in the UK and abroad.
Oxford plant chief Juergen Hedrich said: “Investment in young people is a key part of our development strategy for the plants; therefore we are delighted to be able to offer young people the chance to join our modern apprenticeship scheme.”
UK dealers will recruit around 130 apprentices this year for service, parts, bodyshop and paint roles plus motorcycle technician training.
