BMW earlier this week said 5,400 of the new Magna Steyr-built X3s have already been delivered to European customers since launch on 10 January.
The firm’s UK operation expects 6,250 units in 2004 and said it already had 7,000 orders on hand.
Sales director Graeme Grieve told just-auto that he expected that “a few” of the orders would turn out to be from speculators and “the odd customer ordering at two or three dealers to see where the early delivery slots might be” but expected almost all to translate into confirmed sales.
