Don Newton, Group Technical Director for Axeon, has been appointed to the UK Automotive Technology Council. The council will comprise industry experts and will feed into the Automotive Council chaired by Lord Mandelson and Richard Parry-Jones.

Dundee-based Axeon is a manufacturer of customised advanced lithium-ion battery packs and charging systems for a wide range of automotive and other applications, with its core business in developing and supplying such systems for use in electric and hybrid electric vehicles.
On his appointment, Don said: “I’?m delighted to join the Technology Council and look forward to helping to keep innovation at the top of the UK’s automotive agenda.”
He added: “I’m obviously pleased to see that the government recognises the importance that battery technology will play in reducing emissions from road transport.”
The Council will address technical automotive issues and, using the members’ combined expertise, will report on its progress to the Automotive Council and relevant ministers.
