Auto Data Network (ADN) a US registered group with a listing on the NASDAQ exchange, has acquired MAM Software Ltd, writes Ian Wagstaff. According to regional director Tony Brand, ADN has decided to make its initial thrust in the market through the UK (“Most opportunities are either in the UK or in Europe.”) and has already purchased two small, specialist companies, Ecom, a company that sells ex-fleet cars through a web portal and Automatrix a vehicle sales operation in Hull. However, MAM is its largest acquisition to date and now accounts for around 160 of its 185 to 190 employees. It is looking to add finance, leasing and insurance companies to the group.

MAM was founded in 1984 as a supplier of computer software and systems to the automotive aftermarket. It has offices in Sheffield, Northampton, Wareham and Dublin and last year created a North American counterpart, MAM Software North America Inc. According to managing director Murdo Jamieson, the acquisition by ADN should enable it to increase its investment in the development of new technology. ADN’s global activities should also assist it in marketing its products in Europe and the USA.
