Toyota and Hyundai are to make significant new investments in Turkey according to a Turkish media report.

Toyota has reportedly decided to produce light commercial vehicles in Turkey ahead of other candidate countries such as China, Japan and Russia.

A report in the Sabah Turkish daily newspaper said that the new models will be manufactured in Toyota ’s Adapazari plant. The report also said that Toyota will also promote Turkey as a production centre for light commercial vehicles.  Output will be 100,000 units a year, the report said.

Sabah also claims that Korean carmaker Hyundai will produce its i20 model passenger cars in its plant in Izmit. Hyundai already manufactures commercial vehicles in Izmit plant together with its local partner Assan and production of next generation i20 models will begin in 2011, according to Sabah.
