Assembled at the Bursa plant in Turkey since January 2006, Renault’s Clio III is now on sale in the country with three engine types and three equipment levels. Two additional engines will be added soon.


Clio III’s installed production capacity at Bursa is 150,000 vehicles per year. In 2006, production is expected to reach 90,000 units. Over 90% of Oyak Renault’s production will be exported to central and eastern Europe, the Middle East and Southern Europe. With Clio III, Oyak Renault will confirm its ranking as one of the country’s leading vehicle exporters.


At end-March 2006, 160,000 units had been sold since the model’s launch in September 2005, including more than 80,000 in France. The Flins plant in France, which has assembled Clio III since launch, is working at full speed to meet strong demand for the model, voted Car of the Year 2006.


Capital expenditure at the Bursa plant totaled €216 million for Clio III. The plant’s employees received over 60,000 hours of training.


The Bursa site, which is 60 miles (100km) south of Istanbul, already assembles the Mégane sedan and the Clio II sedan, as well as engines and gearboxes. The plant has an annual production capacity of 250,000 vehicles and operates in three shifts.

In 2005, the Bursa plant produced 180,000 vehicles, 96,000 engines and 141,000 gearboxes.


The Renault group sold 116,500 cars in Turkey and had a market share of 16.3%.
