Automotive production in Turkey decreased by 11% to 1.3m units in 2020, according to data released by Turkey's Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD). Exports in 2020 were down by 27% to 916,543 units.
Car production in 2020 was down by 13% to 855,043 units.

Turkey's commercial vehicle output also fell back in 2020, down 8% year-on-year.
Last year, Turkey's automotive industry's exports totalled $25.9 billion. However, exports of vehicles to Europe were hit by the impact of the pandemic and lower market demand.
However, the domestic market was a bright spot. Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey jumped 61.3% year-on-year in 2020 to 772,788 vehicles, according to Automotive Distributors Association (ODD) data. On a yearly basis, passenger car sales surged 57.6% in the same period to reach 610,109 units.
