Toyota has said that its Russian plant will stop producing cars due to supply chain disruptions caused by military conflict in Ukraine. It will also stop imports into Russia ‘until further notice’.

Toyota Motor Russia will stop production at its St Petersburg plant from 4 March.

Toyota said that other manufacturing and sales operations in the rest of Europe are not impacted.

Toyota in Ukraine (sales and after sales operations; 37 retail locations) has stopped all activities as of 24 February.

Toyota’s St Petersburg plant makes the Camry and RAV4 models, with output estimated at 81,000 units in 2021, which was 20% ahead of the previous year.

There are also reports of other vehicle makers in Europe being impacted by Ukraine conflict related supply chain disruptions, including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Porsche.
