Toyota Motor Corporation announced this week it would appoint vice president-director Warih Andang Tjahjono to the position of president-director (CEO) of its local Indonesian subsidiary Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) in April.
He will become the first non-Japanese president-director of a Toyota manufacturing subsidiary in Asia outside Japan, replacing the outgoing Masahiro Nonami.

TMMIN was established in 1971 and is 95%-owned by Toyota Motor and 5% by its local distributor Astra International.
The appointment was formally announced at a meeting at the Indonesian presidential palace in Jakarta on Monday, with Indonesian president Joko Widodo and Toyota Motor's president-director Akio Toyoda in attendance.
Toyoda also gave an update on the company's ongoing investment programme in the country which he said is on schedule to reach US$19bn by 2019. Around 70% of this has already been fulfilled, according to Toyoda.
TMMIN produced 218,000 vehicles and 210,000 engines last year. Toyota Motor, together with its Daihatsu Motor subsidiary, controls 54% of the Indonesian vehicle market with combined sales of 572,000 units last year, most of which are produced at Astra Daihatsu Motor.
