Baan – the B2B collaborative commerce company – has announced that Morita Corporation, the leading Japanese manufacturer of pump-type fire engines, has implemented an iBaan enterprise solution to reduce its costs. Morita will use the iBaan solution to centrally manage all processes at its Pump Business Division, from manufacturing to sales, to help improve production efficiency and reduce production costs.
Morita is the leading manufacturer of fire engines in Japan. The introduction of competitive bidding systems to the sector, entry into the market of overseas companies and universal economic pressures, have required Morita to reduce costs and improve production efficiency to retain its market-leading position.

Morita has rolled-out a business reformation project to meet these challenges, and will use iBaan to streamline and standardise the core business processes in its Pump Business Division, and to manage purchasing and accounting activity throughout the company.
Eiji Asada, Project Leader and General Manager of the System Engineering Department at Morita, said: “Each fire engine that we produce has different specifications, and we generally manufacture on a Build-to-Order (BTO) basis, with some Made-to-Stock (MTS) production in common base areas. The iBaan solution is an excellent fit for our business, enabling us to manage our manufacturing processes centrally. With iBaan, we can also now perform real-time analysis of production data to resolve any manufacturing problems as they occur – maintaining flexibility, improving efficiency and reducing costs.”
Following the successful deployment of the iBaan solution, Morita is examining rolling out the solution to its Disaster Prevention and Environmental Business Headquarters, to build an optimal business foundation throughout the company.
