“We will start supplying bumpers for GM from June,” Khairudin Yusof, DRB’s chief executive, was quoted as saying, according to Reuters.

Reuters said that DRM owns 51% of Hicom-Teck See Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which will supply front and rear bumpers for GM’s Daewoo Lacetti.

Khairudin did not say how much the contract was worth, Reuters said, but the firm will invest 20 million ringgit ($US5.3 million) in a fully automated plant in Rayong, Thailand, to produce the parts.

DRB is a supplier and assembler for Mitsubishi and PSA Peugoet-Citroen, Reuters noted.
