PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia has begun exporting 700 units of its Avanza cars in completely built-up form to Thailand as part of its annual export plan of 8,400 units into the Asian market this year.
TMMIN President Sachio Yamazaki said the export has been planned since January when the small city car, sold in the country at US$ 10,000 was initially introduced.
The success in sales on the local market has encouraged the plan to export Avanza, Yamasaki said in a ceremony marking the first shipment here yesterday.
Avanza is a joint product of Toyota and Daihatsu in Indonesia to head the cry of the government to produce cheap cars in the country.
