Toyota Motor Corporation officially marked the opening today (13 March) of the Ban Pho Plant of Toyota Motor Thailand (TMT), its vehicle production and sales company in Thailand, with a ceremony at the facility.

The plant – Toyota’s third production base in Thailand – has been in operation since last January.
TMC executive vice president Akio Toyoda said: “The Ban Pho plant represents the future direction of Toyota in Thailand. We intend to continue contributing to Thai society and to the automobile industry in Thailand.”
The Ban Pho Plant, which builds the popular IMV series Hilux pickup trucks, is positioned as a model plant in Asia in terms of its environmental features.
Total investment in the plant is 15bn baht. It has annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles and will produce Hilux pickup trucks for both the domestic Thai market and around 90 other markets worldwide.

By GlobalDataOther TMT plants are: Samrong in Samutprakarn Province which began production in 1964, now has capacity of 250,000 units a year building the Hilux and IMV series Fortuner; and Gateway in Chachoengsao Province with capacity of 200,000 building the Camry, Corolla, Soluna Vios, Wish and Yaris. It was opened in 1996.
