Thailand’s vehicle exports grew nearly 35% in the first quarter this year, mainly due to high global demand for cars and pick-up trucks, an industry group said.

Exports from January to March were worth 128.07bn baht (4.04bn dollars), 34.67% higher than the same period last year, the Federation of Thai Industries told Agence France Presse (AFP).
The figure includes automobiles and engines and parts, the group said.
More than 197,550 cars and trucks worth 88.89bn baht were exported in the first three months, up nearly 28% from the same period last year, the federation said.
Exports of engines doubled from the same period last year to more than 4.59bn baht, with most going to Japan, the group told AFP.

By GlobalDataIn March alone, Thailand exported nearly 73,000 vehicles, worth 32.26bn baht.
Pick-up trucks accounted for 76% of all vehicles exported, with passenger cars making up the rest.
Thailand produced 365,623 vehicles in the first three months, up 24.52% year-on-year. Around 55% were produced for export while the rest were sold domestically, Agence France Presse added.
