Honda Automobile Thailand (HATC) is to build a new car plant with an annual production capacity of 120,000 units. The factory will be located within the property that Honda recently acquired in Prachinburi Province (approximately 120km east of Bangkok).

The total investment will be THB 17.15bn (US$575.8m), including the acquisition of the land and construction of the automobile assembly and engine plant. HATC says the facility is scheduled to become operational in 2015. It will employ 1,200 workers (excluding seasonal staff) to produce primarily small and sub-compact sized vehicles.
