Ford’s Thai operation has introduced a second generation Ranger pickup truck featuring rear access system (RAS) technology (a rear-hinged cab rear door) already common on US-built models such as the F-150.
The latest Ranger also has Ford’s “distinctive new global truck styling”; four-wheel ABS; upgraded comfort and convenience features, and improvements to ride and handling.
The Ranger is built in conjunction with Mazda and exported to numerous Asia-Pacific markets as well as Europe.
Development of the new Ranger cost Ford approximately Bt 4.0 billion, of which Bt 2.2 billion was invested in the rear access system.
The goal was to develop a Thai-built pickup truck with as much useable space and comfort as a large US pickup truck.
