Toyota alone anticipates record Thai sales of 300,000 vehicles in 2010, the company said in a statement cited by news agency AFP. It expects its Thai export sales to grow 39% this year to 330,000 vehicles.
Thailand’s economy is forecast to post solid growth this year thanks to strong demand for its exports and the relatively limited impact of violent political unrest in April and May.
Thailand is the world’s top exporter of rice and rubber, and any boost to the agricultural sector is often reflected in vehicle demand by the country’s largely rural population.
