Agentic AI firm Tensor has announced the launch of the Tensor Robocar, which is being described as the “world’s first” autonomous vehicle (AV) designed for personal ownership.

The Tensor Robocar is engineered with a vertically integrated Level 4 autonomy stack, which includes an extensive sensor array, such as 5 light detection and ranging (LiDARs), 37 cameras, and multiple other sensors to ensure safe navigation through a variety of driving conditions, including fog, rain, and night.

The vehicle’s AI system is modelled after human cognition, with System 1 providing instinctual responses and System 2 employing a multimodal visual language model for processing complex or unusual driving scenarios.

It is equipped with features such as sensor-cleaning systems, autonomous parking, charging capabilities, and protective covers for sensors when the car is not in use.

The vehicle is also capable of performing its own startup checks, managing its maintenance schedule, and updating its software over-the-air, ensuring it is always ready for use, according to the company’s news release.

The robocar will be made available in certain markets across Europe, the UAE, and the US.

To enhance reliability, the vehicle is said to feature full redundancy across its sensor and communication systems, power, and thermal management.

Tensor’s Robocar enables natural interactions with users, whether they are inside or outside the vehicle.

It features a multimodal large language model within an agentic framework, allowing the car to perceive its environment, make decisions, and interact with tools, all while learning and adapting to the user’s preferences over time.

The company said that the vehicle equips 28 “world-firsts”, including support for all autonomy levels from L0 to L4, a foldable steering wheel, and a sliding display for a reimagined cabin experience.

It is the first of its kind to be built for mass production and private ownership.

Strategic collaborations have been key to the development of the Tensor Robocar. Nvidia provides the onboard supercomputer, VinFast enables scalable production at its Hai Phong factory in Vietnam, and Marsh has collaborated to offer the first insurance policy designed for AVs.

The anticipated delivery of the Tensor Robocar is set for the second half of 2026.

Tensor chief marketing officer Amy Luca said:”We are building a world where individuals own their personal AGI agents, enhancing freedom, privacy and autonomy.

“With Tensor, we’re introducing the world’s first personal Robocar, ushering in the era of AI defined vehicles.”
