New vehicle sales in Taiwan fell by 2.9% year on year in February to 20,796 units, reflecting fewer working days in the month due to the Lunar New Year holidays.
Compared with the previous month, when buyers rushed in to buy cars ahead of holidays, the market fell by over 53%.

Market leader Hotai Motor, which distributes Toyota and Lexus cars, sold 6,136 vehicles – for a 29.5% share of the market. Mitsubishi distributor China Motor claimed second place with 2,337 sales (11.2%), with its popular commercial vehicles not significantly affected by the sales rush in January.
Nissan and Infiniti distributor Yulon Nissan Motor sold 2,265 vehicles, to claim a market share of 10.9%. It sold 772 units of its Super Sentra flagship model. Honda sold 1,230 units, to claim a 5.9% market share in February.
Year to date sales were up by 1.7% at 65,097, compared with 63,994 units a year earlier.
