Taiwanese tyremaker Cheng Shin Rubber Industry will spend NT$12bn to set up a new tyre manufacturing plant in Taiwan.

Construction of the new plant is scheduled to start in June 2010 and it will initially produce 14,000 passenger car tyres per day, raising the company’s output capacity by 10% to 15%. The new facility is expected to start production in June 2011, according to China Knowledge Press.
According to an earlier report, Cheng Shin Rubber will supply tyres to Geely Automobile Holdings in mainland China. The Taiwanese company plans to invest US$300m to expand its production capacity in mainland China, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan.
