The announcement is reportedly going to be made at the Conference on Cross-strait Cooperation and Exchange in the Automobile (including Battery Energy Storage) Industry to be held November 24 to 25 in Taipei.
Industry sources said that Chery plans to locate the centre in the scheduled ‘Green Energy Intelligent Vehicle Innovation Park (EV Park)’ in the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park of central Taiwan, to tap the resources and talents on the island for faster development of EVs.
The sources believe that Chery’s move is expected to greatly help local makers of batteries, motors, control systems etc. get on the fast track to China.
