Nissan has reported European sales up 11% to 53,162 units in July and year to date volume up 22% to 393,965.


Sales chief Simon Thomas said: “This increase is due to a number of strong model performances. In particular, Qashqai continues to be very strong and we are still unable to supply to demand despite significant production increases.”


Qashqai volume of 17,514 units last month was up 42% year on year.


Russia, Portugal and the Netherlands saw strong growth last month with 14,630 units (+40%), 946 units (+42%) and 1,237 units (+25%) respectively.


UK sales fell 6% to 5,897, Spain was off 32% to 3,954, Germany was down 8% to 3,821 but Italy was up 22% to 5,363.
