The resulting market share of 9.5% is 0.3 of a percentage point above the same period last year and the highest since 1999.

GME said Chevrolet – mostly from GMDAT in Korea – was the main driver of the sales results, with 32.4% growth in the 11-month period.

The brand sold 411,582 units, with a record market share of 1.9%.

Opel/Vauxhall also delivered good results, with 4.1% growth and sales of 1,506,657 units in the period.

“The all-time sales record clearly reflects the success of GM Europe’s multi-brand strategy. This is a result of building strong brands, offering attractive cars and a special focus on building our sales in central and eastern Europe,” said Jonathan Browning, GM Europe head of sales, marketing and aftersales.

“While Chevrolet is the main driver of the unit sales growth, our focus on the quality of sales for Opel and Vauxhall is also paying dividends with excellent progress in key retail segments.”
