Volvo Trucks says May deliveries rose 74% compared with the previous year, with the increase applying to all major markets.

In total, deliveries in Europe amounted to 4,391 trucks in May, representing a 92% year-on-year increase. The individual French and German markets continued to show strong trends.

In France, where the Volvo FMX construction truck was launched in 2010, deliveries rose 77% in May. At the same time, deliveries in the German market rose 72%.

In Russia, Volvo Trucks’ deliveries rose 436% in May compared with the corresponding period in 2010. As a whole, deliveries in Eastern Europe rose 198% in May.

Volvo Trucks continued to capture market share in South America said the manufacturer and deliveries in May amounted to 2,118 vehicles, a 53% year-on-year increase.

In Brazil, Volvo Trucks continued to strengthen its position in the medium-heavy segment through increased deliveries of the Volvo VM.

In North America, deliveries in May amounted to 2,093, up 117% compared with the year-earlier period. In the long-haul segment, demand continued to increase as older trucks are replaced by new ones, and also because of favourable conditions in the freight industry in general.

May deliveries in South Africa amounted to 142 trucks, up 149% compared with the year-earlier period. To date, deliveries in South Africa have increased 73%.
