Volvo Trucks says its new FMX model will launch in Europe from September, with a global roll-out during the rest of the year.
The FMX features a new upper grill, lower front, three-part steel bumper with 3mm thick steel corners, skid plate and protective bull bar.
It also incorporates a tow hook, headlamp mesh protection, new anti-slip steps and a ladder.
“A quick glance at this truck reveals the close connection between Volvo Trucks and our sister-company, Volvo Construction Equipment – among the world leaders in dumpers, excavators and wheel-loaders,” said Volvo Trucks president and CEO Staffan Jufors.
The new Volvo FMX is based on the FM platform, which is has been used in demanding construction applications, particularly in the Nordic markets, Russia and Eastern Europe.
Performance comes from an 11-litre engine (330 to 450 hp) or the 13-litre engine (380 to 500 hp).
