Deliveries by AB Volvo truck operations, encompassing the Volvo, Nissan Diesel, Mack and Renault brands, rose 15% year on year to 22,198 units.
Mack deliveries rose 11% to 1,501, Renault Trucks was also up 11%, to 7,046, Volvo deliveries were up 9% to 9,133 and Nissan Diesel soared 39% to 4,448, according to Thomson Financial.
European group deliveries rose just 1%, North America surged 49%, South America was up 16% and Asian deliveries up 50%.
Volvo was quoted as saying the increased deliveries at Mack was because last year was at very low levels due to a transition to US 07 vehicles, while this year was given a temporary boost by a production hike to catch up on production lost in a previous strike.
“North America on the whole remains weak, reflecting ongoing sluggishness in the US economy, high fuel prices and softness in housing construction,” Volvo told Thomson Financial.
