Volvo Group has reported that truck deliveries ((Volvo Trucks, Mack, Renault Trucks, UD Trucks and Eicher) in April were 42% ahead of last year, at 13,030 units, confirming the continuing recovery to demand in the heavy commercial vehicle sector.

Volvo Group unit sales in the first four months were just under 50,000 units, 21% ahead of the same period last year.

For Volvo Trucks deliveries in April were 51% higher than in the corresponding month last year at 5,127 – with Europe increased by 26%, while Asia, including the Middle East, increased by 200%. In the first four months sales were 19,108 units, 12% ahead of last year’s pace.

Volvo Trucks says it is gradually increasing production rates to respond to the improved demand in these regions.

Deliveries in South America increased by 105% in April compared with the same month last year, primarily driven by a strong demand for trucks in Brazil.

Demand in North America is gradually improving from a low level. In April deliveries increased by 37% compared to the corresponding month last year.

Volvo said that deliveries from Renault Trucks – its second biggest truck brand – in April increased by 10% compared with last year, to 3,411 units.
