The discussions are reportedly concerned with how to potentially support the auto industry through the downturn.


Maria Bolin, spokeswoman for Volvo Cars told Dow Jones that talks so far have revolved around boosting research and development aid and how to help employees who have lost their jobs.


She said that the discussions have not involved a loan package similar to that under consideration in the US to help the Detroit Big Three.


Dow Jones reported that Industry Ministry spokesman Hakan Lind said the government and the auto industry are having “an open discussion and are examining what, if anything, should be done.”
