Saab is not ruling out further disruption during the coming few days following this week’s halt to production due to a dispute about supplier payments.

The Swedish automaker was forced to stop for two hours last Tuesday (29 March) due to a disagreement with International Automotive Components (IAC), but says this has now been resolved to “everybody’s satisfaction.”

However, the manufacturer conceded the stoppage had prompted calls from other suppliers concerned about the situation and that there could be more problems in the short term.

“It is possible we run into a few hiccups during the coming days as a result of this, but we are confident we can get back to a normal flow from all our suppliers within a short time,” a Saab spokeswoman told just-auto from Sweden.

“I know there are discussions ongoing with suppliers…if there is an issue we are working to solve it. It is possible there could be because we are running a production system that is just-in-time, so it is very sensitive to anybody hesitating with any part.”

Saab declined to go into the dispute with IAC, apart from to confirm it was about “payment and delivery terms” and that the matter had now been resolved.

The automaker noted other suppliers had called “with their own questions”.

IAC was not immediately available for comment from the US.
