National Electric Vehicle Consortium (NEVS) says reports it has insufficient funds to complete the deal to purchase Saab are “incorrect.”

Widespread speculation in Sweden has centred on how NEVS will finance the deal, but the Chinese/Japanese/Swedish grouping insists the agreement is still on.

“What we said at the signing, we said we have sufficient funds for the closing and for implementing the business plan,” a NEVS spokesman in Sweden told just-auto. “That still stands.

“We have decided not to comment on what other actors are saying or speculation. We rather focus on closing and when we have something to say, we say it ourselves.”

Pressed as to whether the agreement would still occur, NEVS insisted: “The deal is absolutely still on,” but stressed its complex nature.

“We have a positive process that we are looking to close as soon as possible,” said the spokesman.
