National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) says the pre-series 9-3 model finished this week in Trollhattan is a “fully produced, manufactured car,” that is driveable, but which is still waiting for final component contracts.
There will now be an – unspecified – number of pre-series models built as the Trollhattan plant becomes used to production once more – with the initial vehicle taking the renowned 9-3 badging.

“It is a fully-produced, manufactured car from start to finish,” a NEVS spokesman told just-auto from Trollhattan. “It is not the exact car that will leave the assembly line when we start production.
“It is called the 9-3 and it is our normal badge on the hood. We still have some dialogue to finish with the suppliers but the vast majority of them are contracted.
“They [models] are drivable – they will of course not reach customers or go in traffic but yes it is a completed car from the body shop.”
The manufacturer added it had a date in mind for production start, but declined to reveal what that might be.
NEVS is currently validating the facilities and production processes as it gears up to start manufacture later this year.
