Geely’s Volvo Cars has appointed former IKEA chief Mikael Ohlsson to its board of directors effective today (1 October).

Ohlsson is a former president and CEO of IKEA Group and took over the position vacated last year by Håkan Samuelsson, currently president and CEO of Volvo Car Group.

Ohlsson has worked for IKEA for over 30 years and was a member of the group’s executive management for almost 20 years. Between 2009 and 2013 he was president and CEO of IKEA’s global operations
