Recent talks with potential suitors have left the Swedish government in a positive mood regarding the future of the country’s automaker Saab.

Speaking in an interview, State Secretary Joran Hagglund said he was “more optimistic now than we have been for a long time regarding their [Saab’s] future.”
Earlier this week Saab said it had selected three suitors for continued talks. The company said in a court filing it had held presentations with 10 potential buyers.
In the interview, with news agency Reuters, Hagglund said: “They (potential buyers) have described who they are, how their plans look, and their thoughts and philosophies on both leadership and long-term considerations and really have wanted us to understand their intentions.”
Meanwhile, the Swedish government has indicated that it will provide a bridging loan to help Saab into the transition of a new owner.
