Sales at Geely’s Volvo Car Group fell 2.6% year on year in June to 40,939 units with year to date volume off 5.5% to 209,118.
Nonetheless, China volume last month was up 74% to a record 5,798 cars – a new sales record – and by 34.3% to 28,703 in the first half.

The US was the top market in June though sales slipped 6% to 6,678 and were off 5.9% to 34,617 year to date.
Though there were gains in France and Spain in June, Europe as a whole was still down 9.5% versus 2012 to 20,534. YTD volume was off 10.9% at 109,783.
Japan is a growth market for Volvo with a 16.3% increase in June driven by demand for the V-line cars with the Volvo V40 being the most sold model.
Japan, however, saw sales rise 11.3% in the first half.
The XC60 was the top-selling Volvo in June.
