The factory currently builds the X5 sport utility vehicle and Z3 sports cars and its production doubled in four years to 120,000 cars last year.
BMW board member in charge of production Norbert Reithofer said the factory might produce 150,000 cars in 2003.
”We will think over the next years about expanding production facilities in the US at Spartanburg,” Reithofer reportedly said in an interview.
The company could add the upcoming X3 SUV to the factory’s output and expects to double production there “beyond 2005”, reports said.
