Autoliv CEO Jan Carlsson told Dagens Industri (DI) that Autoliv’s sales will increase by 35% to some SEK 4 billion (EUR 367.7m) in China and by 50% to SEK 600 million in India in 2009.

However, the projected 25% decline in overall Autoliv sales this year is due to collapsed volume in North America and Western Europe.

Autoliv’s market share in China will grow to 40% from 35% in the coming years, according to Carlsson.

India will become a global centre for production and development of small cars, mainly due to the success of the launch of Tata Nano, Carlsson told DI.

The report also said that Autoliv plans to deliver seat belts to 50% of the 200,000 Tata Nano cars which Tata Motors plans to produce annually.
