Suzuki said the eVitara is its first global battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, based on its newly developed ‘HEARTECT-e” platform designed specifically for BEVs and featuring the company’s ‘ALLGRIP-e’ electric 4WD system that delivers a “nimble and sharp driving experience. The model is claimed to have a range of 430 km on a single charge.
The automaker confirmed that it plans to export the e-Vitara from India to more than 100 markets worldwide, including Japan where prices will start at JPY 3.99 million (US$27,000). The company is already taking pre-orders for the model in Europe.
Suzuki President, Toshihiro Suzuki, recently told reporters at a press conference: “We will enter the cut-throat BEV market with the eVitara. We aim to continue to release BEVs best suited for each market by understanding how vehicles are being used by our customers.”
