Suzuki Motor Corporation has experienced a downturn in its global production figures for August 2025, with a total of 241,749 units produced.

It marked a decrease to 94.8% of the level in the same period last year.

The contraction represents the seventh consecutive month of year-on-year (YoY) decline, bringing the cumulative production for January to August 2025 to nearly 2.19 million units at 98.2% of the previous year’s output.

In its home market of Japan, Suzuki saw production decrease to 71,121 units, which was down to 98.8% of the production in the same month of the previous year, continuing a seven-month downtrend.

The total production for the first eight months of the year was also lower at 615,535 units, a significant 90.5% drop compared to the same period in the previous year.

Overseas production, however, saw a mixed performance.

A total of 170,628 units were produced in August 2025, down to 93.3% of the previous year, marking the first dip after two months of growth.

The year-to-date figures still showed a slight increase, with around 1.57 million units produced, which is 101.7% of the prior year’s production.

In India, production saw 93.7% YoY with 158,186 units, while production in other overseas locations is 88.6% YoY with 12,442 units.

According to the release, global sales for Suzuki mirrored the production trend, with 240,058 units sold in August, equating to 96.3% of the sales from the same month in the previous year, and marking the sixth consecutive month of sales decline.

The cumulative global sales from January to August 2025 stood at approximately 2.13 million units, 97.8% of the previous year’s sales.

In Japan, sales showed a contrasting trend with an increase to 49,148 units in August, at 100.7% of last year’s level, and the third consecutive month of growth.

However, sales of mini-vehicles in Japan saw 97.4% YoY, while sales of standard and small vehicles climbed to 117.3% of last year’s levels.

Overseas sales continued the downward trajectory, dropping to 95.3% with 190,910 units sold, marking the seventh consecutive month of decline.

In India, sales fell to 92.1% of 2024 levels with 134,050 units, while sales in other overseas markets improved, rising to 103.7% at 56,860 units.

Exports from Suzuki in August showed a positive movement, with 17,759 units exported, a 137.6% YoY, indicating the second consecutive month of growth.

However, the export figures from January to August 2025 showed a 79.6% YoY with 124,041 units, and the April to August period also experienced a reduction to 87.9% with 81,118 units exported.

Reflecting on the broader picture, Suzuki’s global sales in March 2025 fell by 7.4% to 287,884 units, from 310,752 units in the same month last year, due to falling domestic and overseas demand.
