This is Suzuki’s second biogas plant following the Agthala plant which opened in December 2025. It will produce and sell biogas as fuel for CNG vehicles (CBG), as well as sell organic fertilizer from cow dung after biogas generation.
The opening ceremony of BANAS SUZUKI BIOGAS PLANT was attended by Mr. Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, Mr. Shankar Chaudhary, Chairman of Banas Dairy and Speaker of Gujarat Legislative Assembly, and Kenichiro Toyofuku, Managing Officer, Executive General Manager, Biogas Operations of Suzuki.
Biogas, a carbon-neutral fuel, can be used in CNG vehicles, which account for about 20% of the passenger car market in India, and contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Furthermore, Suzuki says the operation of biogas plants will lead to improved energy self-sufficiency, the creation of new jobs, and enhanced rural income and living standards through the purchase of cattle dung.
