Stellantis is set to begin the production of the Mokka GSE, an all-electric vehicle that it says is inspired by the Mokka GSE Rally prototype.

The Mokka range for European markets is made for the the Opel and Vauxhall brands at Stellantis’ Poissy plant in France on the multi-energy CMP platform. The CMP platform is engineered so that ICE and EV variants of the model range can be built on the same production line. The Poissy plant also builds the DS3 Crossback on the same CMP multi-energy platform.

The Mokka GSE variant will come with a peak output of 207kW (280hp) and an immediate torque of 345Nm, enabling it to accelerate from a standstill to 62mph in 5.9 seconds.

The Mokka GSE offers drivers three drive modes: ‘Sport’ for full power performance, ‘Normal’ with a top speed of 112mph, and ‘Eco’ for maximum efficiency.

Its energy is stored in a 54kWh lithium-ion battery, and it features a kerb weight of less than 1.6 tonnes.

The vehicle’s technology includes the front-wheel drive with a Torsen multi-plate limited-slip differential and a chassis with axles that are specially designed and new double hydraulic shock absorbers.

The new rear axle has 189% increased roll stiffness compared to the standard Mokka Electric.

High-voltage components such as the motor, inverter, battery, and wiring harness are shared with the Mokka GSE Rally.

The steering system, brakes, and chassis have been optimised for sportiness, drawing from Opel’s experience in electric rallying.

The front brakes, designed by Alcon, feature 380mm diameter discs with four-piston callipers.

The Mokka GSE’s exterior includes GSE-specific inserts and a wheel-tyre combination developed exclusively for this model.

The 20-inch alloy wheels are said to be aerodynamically optimised and paired with Michelin Pilot Sport EV 225/40 R20 tyres, available only at Vauxhall for the Mokka GSE.

Inside, the driver and front passenger are seated on Alcantara GSE sports seats with integrated headrests.

Alcantara door inserts, a newly developed steering system, and a steering wheel flattened at the top and bottom enhance the driving experience.

Aluminium sports pedals and a 10-inch digital driver information display, along with a central colour touchscreen featuring GSE performance data, complete the interior.

In the UK, Vauxhall managing director Steve Catlin said: “With its striking design, sharp handling, and outstanding performance, the Mokka GSE is made to be exciting to drive and builds on a proud heritage of sporting Vauxhalls for the modern electric era. We can’t wait to see the car in the hands of our car-loving community soon.”
