Stellantis has announced plans to invest around $406m across three facilities in Michigan, US.

The recipients of this investment plan are the Sterling Heights assembly plant, the Warren truck assembly plant, and the Dundee engine plant respectively.

The Sterling Heights assembly plant (SHAP) will receive the lion’s share of the total investment, around $235.5m. It will manufacture the company’s first battery-electric 2025 Ram 1500 REV light-duty truck and the range-extended 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger. It will also assemble other internal combustion engine (ICE) models.

The Warren truck assembly plant (WTAP) will receive an investment of $97.6m. It will use the proceeds to manufacture a future-ready electrified Jeep Wagoneer.

The Dundee engine plant (DEP) will receive an investment of $73m. DEP will upgrade and modernize its facilities to produce components for the STLA Frame and STLA Large architectures. It will include battery trays, and front and rear beams. Production will begin in 2024 and 2026, respectively.

Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis said, “Gearing up to build our first-ever Ram electric truck and the range-extended version in Michigan is a meaningful moment of pride for our teams. With these investments supporting both Jeep and Ram, we’re adding innovations to our Michigan manufacturing footprint. It will support a multi-energy approach that is laser-focused on customer demand.”
