Workers at Volkswagen’s plant at Navarre in northern Spain called off an indefinite strike due to start on Monday but will continue with other protest measures, a spokesman for the plant told Reuters.

The plant supplies Europe with Volkswagen’s Polo model and is smaller than the group’s main Spanish factory near Barcelona, which makes a range of Seat cars.
“The production line was working normally this morning, but the situation is still critical because there are new stoppages called for 6 and 11 April,” the spokesman told the news agency, which noted that half day strikes on those days have been called in protest at flexibility measures and a cut in overtime and weekend shift payments.
Those stoppages will coincide with an ultimatum called by the car group on 7 April for a new wage agreement to be signed.
Reuters added that the plant employs 4,400 workers, and produces 1,160 units daily, 20% less than its maximum capacity.
