Suppliers have paid tribute to Delphi Spain human resources director, Rogelio Oficialdegui, who was one of several auto industry executives now known to be among 150 victims of yesterday’s (24 March) Germanwings air crash in the French Alps.

Another victim was Martyn Matthews, 50, who worked for Tipton-based Huf UK, the British branch of the German car parts firm Huf Group, the Daily Telegraph reported. He had been on business in Barcelona and was en route to a meeting in Germany when the passenger jet crashed into a mountainside.

The company said it would not be commenting, at the request of Matthews’ family.

The circumstances of the air crash of Flight 4U 9525 from Barcelona to Dusseldorf that came down in mountainous terrain in southern France are still unknown but, at last night’s CLEPA Reception in Brussels, tributes were paid to Delphi’s Oficialdegui.

“He was human resources director of Delphi in Spain – we have 18 members and one of the members was him,” Spanish suppliers association, Sernauto secretary general, Maria Luisa Soria, told just-auto at the Brussels event.

“He brought enthusiasm with new projects and [was] always ready to collaborate in activities of the organisation. A very nice person.”

For its part, Spanish component producer, Gestamp, remembered Rogelio Oficialdegui as: “One of the most human guys in a human resources function.

“Beyond figures in this industry, we have people and Rogelio was one of those people who makes people first.”

CLEPA delegates at the Reception observed a moment of silence in respect for the victims.
