SEAT is hiring 233 temporary workers at its Martorell facilities near Barcelona to cope with a one-off increase in demand for the Ibiza and Audi Q3 models.
The new hires will join more than 550 people recruited earlier this year. The number of shifts on production Line 2 has now increased to three as a result of rising demand for the Leon range.

Labour unions have been in discussions with SEAT over the addition of these temporary positions. This is due to an earlier agreement by the company to give recruitment priority to temporary workers who had previously been employed at Martorell.
In July, the 45 members of the first graduating apprentices in SEAT’s new dual system vocational training programme were also hired by the company. Vice-president for Human Resources, Josef Schelchshorn, said that so far this year, SEAT has hired more than 800 workers as global sales rose by 10.5% from January to October to 326,000 units. Registrations have been particularly strong in Central and Eastern Europe, where orders increased by 50.5% in the first 10 months of the year.
