Spain’s Sino Motors, which distributes Indian vehicle brand Mahindra in Spain and Portugal, has hired former MG Rover Portugal chief executive Jose Boieiro to lead its expansion in the country.

Boierio, who manged Rover Portugal from 2000 to 2003, will be in charge of setting up Mahindra’s dealer network and marketing the brand in Portugal, Sino said in a statement.
Mahindra hopes to sell 300 cars in Portugal this year and control 1% of the country’s SUV market.
On Boreiro’s watch, Portugal became one of the strongest-selling markets for Rover in Western Europe, Sino said.
